First European Prevention Curriculum training course in English for Caribbean countries

Today, 20 experts from eight Caribbean countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname) are embarking on a five-day online European Prevention Curriculum (EUPC) basic training course in English. This is the first time that the EMCDDA is delivering an EUPC training course in the language for this region.

Within the framework of its partnership with the COPOLAD III programme, the EMCDDA is preparing with the participants a culturally adapted version of the basic EUPC training course for Latin America and the Caribbean. These versions will be available in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

The EUPC is a training curriculum in science-based prevention for decision-, opinion-, or policy-makers at local, regional or national level. It aims to boost the application and uptake of effective modern prevention approaches, and facilitate well-informed choices about funding and implementation priorities.

Further basic training courses in Portuguese using a culturally adapted version are foreseen for later in 2023.
